Today is a new of excellence!! Socrates was charged with two crimes due to his opinion of his thoughts.  The first crime was corruption of Athens you and second was impiety which is not beliveing in the gods of state. He had a great defense he had said stating " It's my job to be a fly to the lazy sluggish horse that is Athens" Also " I should actually be rewarded with free dinners for life." Basically a jury of 500 male citizens found him guilty (279-221) was the amount that believes him. He had been sentenced to death by drinking poison hemlock. People tried to save him and get him out so he could live but he believed that he wouldn't have done his job if he was saved and actually didn't get the point across that what you believe is what you should stand for. He wanted to make it clear that he was going to die by getting his point across. This made it extra clear of his loyalty to the people and supporting other options and ideas. An idiot in Athens democracy was someone who was self centered almost exclusively with private as apposed to public affairs and making them not as bad as a person. In Athens another thing was that they were born and citizens were made through education. Socrates just wanted to give teens the chance to experience other thoughts out there other than what they had to know and be taught to give them another opportunity to seek a life and another idea of a god or person. Socrates never said he didn't do it so that he could take control over what happened to him and how he was being punished was fair but not being able to thin in another mind set wasn't fair to these kids and thats the mind set he tried to get across and until he would have to die a slow death for even doing it.
