Mid term review!

Today in class we went over the test on immigration. I had gotten a 71% on this test and it was one of the hardest test we had taken. I studied very hard for this test and made very useful flash cards. These were very helpful to study with because they had all the information that we needed to know and the test was almost exactly what he told us was gonna be on it. Today we were told to look over all the worksheets and notes to see what we really don't understand and to study that. I really think I will do good on this exam because I have been studying a lot and taking amazing notes which will help me in the long run. I cant wait for the exams because this has been a lot of stress and not easy week. In all of my classes today I had reviewed and some stuff we had reviewed was from a while ago and I don't even remember half of it. I really want to do good because I try so hard and I want this work to show and pay off. In this class I have to go all the way back to one of the very first lessons we had been taught and work up from their. I really am trying to remember what I had learned but some of it was from so long ago I need a big recap. This weekend I will study so hard and especially since this is on the first day of exams. I really hope I do good while I try my hardest.

finish essay!

Today in class we got to revise our essays and by doing this it will help us better it and make it sound better than it does. This essay is a lot of work and these are the hardest for me. I understand the immigration and all the problems along with them but I don't really know how to transfer all the knowledge to the paper so. The essay question subject I chose was B. The subject question has to do with immigrants, quotas, push and pull factors, legal and illegal, and civil and human rights. I had a hard time really getting good facts for this essay and really finding what I wanted to make my policy. I feel very prepared for this exam so I really hope that I get a good overall grade. Human geography isn't the easiest subject for me so I really have to study hard and take great notes and this is is a great time for all this concentration and great notes I take so I can go back over them and possibly make flash cards. The way I study the most is by flash cards and they are very helpful when it is multiple choice questions. I also can't wait for western civilization next quarter! History is my favorite thing to learn and when I understand things I feel so accomplished and that I could do very well on the test! Today was very productive and we will see what we got on the test tomorrow.

Migration Test

Today in class we had finally took the test on immigration, migration, and emigration. I think I had done really well on it. I had studied really hard for this test so I am really hoping I do good. This test had multiple choice and fill in the blank answers which I like way better than written responses. I made flash cards to help me study. This way I can make definitions and have to find the answers instead of making them up. I spent a mod and 15 minutes studying in school right before the test which helped me remember that way when it was handed to me it was fresh. This test was a good test because I was really able to understand it and comprehend what I had been learning. This also made taking it a lot easier because I knew what I was doing. Test are hard for me so it really frustrates me when I try to study really hard an then I don't do o good on it because I know what I was learning.  I cant wait until I get my test back and I am really hoping I do so good.

immigrants, migrants, and emigrants

Today in class we had went over the essay questions and what options we have to write it on. Also we  went over the date it was do and how you shouldn't wait until last minute to get it done. We have to write 5 paragraphs, can't be late or each day late it takes off a letter grade, you can pick from 3  differnt topics, and it is 25% of essay exam grade. We have to write it and type it which we will bring in the rough draft Thursday to complete and fix if needed. We  can find the Essay questions through the blog site for our classes. Class had put it together that no text book is actually up to date because it takes a while to get up to date and get published which makes it so that more history has happened it the past few weeks it took to even get the books into schools or stores. Some concerns that Europe has would be the population growth fueled by immigration from other regions of the world, a trend disliked by many other Europeans. Most fears with the country is that the main countries culture will be lost because of the immigration of people. Most speak different languages and some bring over different cultures. Hostility to immigrants has become a central plank of some political parties in many European countries. Immigrants blamed for crime, unemployment rates, and high welfare costs. Europeans was the source of most of the worlds emigrants, during the nineteenth century.  They had been poring into millions in America. Characteristics of migrants is that most log distance migrants are male. Mainly these log distance migrants are adult individuals rather than families with children.  They are also mainly young adults seeking work rather than children or elderly people. Today we also watched a video of what are sanctuary cities? There are about 300 sanctuaries. Police live in these cities and they are called I.C.E. They people who go around locking up immigrants and either putting them in jail or against a board. Ice isn't aloud help from local law enforcers which also makes them aloud to split families if they are brought to cities with I.C.E living in them. Immigrants have to be very careful and watch what they do because some get mistaken for being good when bad or bad for good.

Difficulties of the migration limits.

Today in class we learned all about how migration has limits to getting people in and out of countries.  Certain countries have adopted selective immigration policies. Preferences shown for specific employment placement and family reunification. This means that for example that if someone lived somewhere else and they have relatives living in the place you are trying to get into this is most likey going to get them in faster than them getting in because of a job or just because. If they are trying to see or get back with loved ones they are most likely going to try to live their and be with them so they don't really have to wait as long as maybe some other people would have to wait for other reasons. The passing of the origins the Quota act in 1924 by the U.S. congress marked the end of the unrestricted immigrants to the U.S.Un authorized immigrants are those who enter a country without proper documents. Around 58% emigrate to Mexico and of the estimated millions of unauthorized immigrants, nearly 1 million are children. Unauthorized immigrants have given birth to 4.5 million children on U.S. soil making the children U.S. citizens. This is not very good for a country because this means that people are coming in without ant process making it easy for themselves to enter a country and as they get on and settle down or as they are coming in they are having children which makes there kid and immigrant legally so they can stay because of them which they would say falls under the policy that if they have relatives or family members they can enter. This DOES NOT apply tot these types of situations because they are entering in a way where they can get into a lot of trouble making it illegal and not okay. Texas and California have the largest number of unauthorized immigrants. Knowing this and how big this number can be makes some question if its safe to visit or live there because clearly they aren't finding all of these people who have entered through the illegal way making them still left there and possibly having a job and a family with money. The main ways people are getting in is by Employment opportunities, Family reunification, and better way of life. Many northern Mexicans wish for compassion to be shown to unauthorized immigrants. Now the residents of southern Mexico are less tolerant because of all the unauthorized immigrants. They want ti say that there is a problem and try to blame yet they know what is effective and what works the best yet they don't wanna spend more money to fix it but yet this isn't true anymore because our president is now trying to build a wall around the border of Mexico leaving room for transportation of goods and services( civil rights, Local initiatives).  Another reason why an asylum isn't good for our countries because some are peaceful and have walked all this way for safety and cant get it which makes people go crazy when they arena let in because at this point you either aren't getting let in or you are. Those who aren't being aloud in are starving most brought kids and family which they have to take care of along the way which can be another factor that makes them go crazy when wanting to get in because they are hungry and scared and now they cant do anything about it because they are getting sent back to most likely an unsafe environment. This also is a hard position for those guards because then it can turn unsafe and become violet and then this can lead to some deaths and other things by just not simply letting people be safe. Yet this sounds easy and innocent it isn't it can be dangerous and very unfair.

Why do Migrants face challenges ?

Today In class we learned all about the challenges and things migrants go through. The government put a policy on the immigrants and emigrants. The U.N. classifies countries according to four types of immigration policies. For example maintain the current level of immigration, 2 increase the level, 3 reduce the level, 4 no policy. Usually the policies are classified as one or not all four of these classes. In these classes the U.N. has found that 21 want to seek more immigrants, 32 want fewer or less immigrants, 116 wish that the could maintain the level , and 25 do not have a policy. Now this could be very debatable because maybe some people wish they could maintain but the government needs more help with the jobs that the people already living there cant really do. 12 million immigrants to the United States between 1892 and 1954 were processed at Ellis Island. They had been transported from here to New York city. Ellis Island became a part of the statue of liberty. An Asylum seeker is someone who has migrated to another country in the hope of being recognized by as a refugee.  Forced migration is considered here as a subject of international migration. In order for these people to migrate to these places/ in counties people need to get permission from the government. Migration can be International. Many of todays conflicts in former European colonies result from the past practices by European immigrants such as drawing arbitrary boundary lines and discriminating among different local ethnic groups. Millions of Mexicans are trying to cross the border by any means, legal or otherwise, in search of a more sustainable economic and cultural life. Mexico is the main destination for unauthorized immigrants. These unauthorized immigrants could violate the civil rights of the U.S. citizens. It would be impossible for these very high officers to do any more work than they have been doing. It would be impossible for law enforcers to actually find the 11 million unauthorized immigrants. These people known as unauthorized immigrants are productive and otherwise law-abiding members of U.S.society. We learned a lot in these handouts which I have really been able to better understand immigration and why it could be so bad for countries and the population. Another note would be out of the 16 highest per capita income Europe in northern and western have 14 in them. Guest workers are another program of immigration. Immigrants from poorer countries were allowed to immigrate temporarily to obtain jobs. This type of program is called circular migration which is the temporarily movement of a migrant worker between home and host countries. Guest workers were expected to return to their countries or where they came from once they had been done. Most people didn't follow this and some have gotten caught, some have gotten away with it which allows there families to be able to stay and have a safe and good living environment. This term guest worker is no longer used in Europe and government programs no longer exist. Immigrants also help there countries by sending remittances back home to thier families. Europe was also the source for many emigrants which mainly applied in the nineteen hundreds.

Changing U.S. immigration notes!

Today in class we went back over all the notes on page 84-85. On these pages we had learned that about 80 million people migrated to the united States between1820and 2015 including 42 million who were live in 2015. United States has had three types of immigration eras such as colonial settlement in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, Mass European immigration in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, and lastly asian and Latin American immigration in the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries. These three eras are all very important because these all brought different kinds of people to the United States. Africans were forced to come and migrate to the United States as slaves. Horrible economic conditions , and religious persecution in Europe blurred the distinction between forced and voluntary migration. About three-fourths of all U.S. during two specific decades came from Ireland and Germany. These two centuries had been early nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Immigration had been very important to the United States. Some questions we are wondering is if we should allow certain immigrants to come into the country. Some say we shouldn't and some say we would. Some work Americans don't want to do other people are willing because they need money or they need new places to start because of there old country wasn't safe and jobs there couldn't be given because they were dangerous due to the people or the placement of the jobs. The air could be dirty and not safe to breathe which makes it unsafe and thats why some people look for new jobs in better places. Germany and European have been the two countries with the most immigrants to United States. Around 7 million asians have migrated to the United States in the past half- century.  The United States in no longer a sparsely settled, economically booming country.

Under Obama (podcast)

Today in class we picked up where we left off last class with the podcast and we took more notes on what was happening. For example we talked about mainly how people are getting an asylum. A few reasons would be by Race, Nationality, Religion, Political beliefs, Social groups. America had a french word non Reforma which meant (not returning). This basically says that Americans sent these people back to where they need to flee from but as they had been on the boat the captain took them to Europe which is where they spread out and went looking for new and safer place yet as this was happening the nazi was taking over more and more land. While they had been taking over land nazi had captured all of theses people and put them into a death camp which all 900 people had died.  Some people would leave where they came from because of gang violence, and some don't think persecution by family is one but Is because of abuse and or rape. Terrorism and being gay are other reasons why people would leave.

Review for the finals...

Today in class we had revived for our final which is Friday for my class. I really have been struggling to keep my grade at a decent average...
